Question: If I want to start watching Start Trek: TNG, where do I start? I hear Season One is skipable.

(Why TNG? Series after it are either too dark or to "Yay, Sisko is willing to commit war crimes!")

@Canageek Definitely watch "Encounter at Farpoint" at the very least. It's both really good and it's the first episode, so it's the obvious starting point. My list after that for a new watcher: "Where No One Has Gone Before", "The Last Outpost", "The Battle", "Hide and Q", "The Big Goodbye", "Datalore", "11001001", "Home Soil" "Heart of Glory", "The Aresenal of Freedom", "We'll Always Have Paris", and "The Neutral Zone". Those are the best IMO.

@Canageek As an aside, as someone who dislikes DS9 for similar reasons as you I actually like Voyager much better than TNG. Season 6's "Muse" and Season 7's "The Void" strike a really bright and optimistic note, warming my heart and lifting my spirits more than any episode of TNG does.
